For over four years of cyberspace existence, KirkyWirky.Net has become my silent, yet effective confidante. It has heard most of what I had in mind. It listened to my praises, to my rants.. it helped me usher my life away from studenthood to being a professional. It was witness to almost all of my memorable moments. It served as my diary, my journal.. my best friend. Here, I told stories about my family. Here, I sang songs about friends. Here, I lashed out my frustrations, my failures, my anger. Here, I cried all the tears away. The past four years were memorable and wonderful, and this site has immortalized all those which I felt and experienced during those blissful days.
But now, I have to say goodbye to this website which I've otherwise called the greatest confidante in the world. It's not because I've got nothing more to write. It's not because I'm tired of paying the annual webhosting bills. It's not because I've lost interest all in all.. it's because I realized, there should always be a time to get a move on. And sometimes, in order for one to be able to carry on from the present.. he has to embrace change. And this is exactly what I'll be doing from this point onward. KirkyWirky.Net's arrival has helped me embrace change.. and I'm pretty confident that it's departure will do so similarly.
With this, I would like to thank those who had visited this site. I do hope that my journal has helped you know me better. It's become an avenue for me to express myself, and I'm happy that you've been a part of it. In about a month or two, this site will be taken off cyberspace. And before it expires, I'd like to express the deepest of my gratitude to those who inspired me to maintain the site for four years.
Thank you very much. Till the next journal writing!
KirkyWirky.Net, signing-off.

Rai Rodil
/ Best Friend 1
(Re-entrant from 2006 and 2008) - Kiss Club Year's number one is here to

cooperative when it comes to planning and implementing the gangs now-rare
kisser events.
9. Angelo

3.
Clarence Matthew "Chuck" Reyes / Best Friend 1 - One of my

2. Gian
Carlo Timbang / Best Friend 1 - One of this year's best additions to my
circle! Despite having a lot of pre-connections and meeting him early in May, we
only got close during the wrath of Ondoy and soon after became best buddies. He
even met and bonded with The Boys during and after my sister's party!
1.
Fraian Barcarse / Best Friend 2 (Re-entrant from 2006, 2007 and 2008) - The all-time
undisputed great and the benchmark of greatness, himself. He
doesn't actually need to be here in the number one spot to show everyone that
he's the best in everything. Simply my all-time friend, confidante, adviser and
brother!

A day after this year's Christmas, it was time for the Boys to meet up again and spend a whole day away doing all sorts of things that enter our minds. It was initiated by a Badminton invitation from Fraian, and since everyone was kind of bummed after the holidays, it was an easy yes answer. Gian was supposed to be invited, but he was unavailable.. so it was the usual four of us. Fraian and I met up at his dorm first. We talked a bit about how our Christmases had been, as Fraian shared me his Karaoke software. After a couple of minutes talking and goofing around, we then set off to Vito Cruz where Darwin was waiting. At Fraian's condo, the three of us waited for Emil to arrive as Fraian prepared a quick lunch and dessert. As soon as the quartet was completed, it was time for us to storm off to Intramuros, to our usual Badminton court, to play.

Darwin, though, would be unavailable by 5PM. So we made the most out of the two hours we have left. We had the usual badminton team-ups: Fraian and Myself vs Emil and Darwin. I'd have to say that after the series of games that I had with the three within the year, that game was the most screwed-up. I was a bit distracted, and my annoyance got the best of me -- leading me to commit more errors than the usual. Ironically though, me and my partner managed to get win after win after win despite the tension building up between us. After the game, I acknowledged my anger getting the best of me, apologized to my buddy/partner/coach and silently celebrated our win. Since Darwin was in a bit of a hurry, we all decided to drive for him to his destination.. at Trinoma to meet an "old friend".
After dropping Darwin at Trinoma, the three of us returned to Vito Cruz to have dinner at Mang Inasal. After the, literally, sumptuous dinner, we returned to Fraian's condo to rest (and Emil to his condo, to take a quick shower). As we waited for Darwin and Emil, Fraian and I surfed the net, read some Pacquiao news, looked for GoSing videoke songs, drafted a movie review/critic and talked about CPR. We also checked out the movie schedule at MOA for Panday. After getting the schedule, we had the information dissiminated to Emil and Darwin. Soon after, Emil arrived at Fraian's condo. We then called up Darwin for his confirmation, to which he gave a positive answer, plus a surprise! We then stormed off to MOA to buy the tickets as we waited for Darwin and his surprise.

At MOA, we first worked on getting the tickets for us. Then we walked around to checkout some items, then to Seaside to get some drinks before returning to the Cinema House. As we lined up by the entrance, Darwin arrived with his special guest -- the Allianz' very own Jb! It was the "Tayong Apat Movement" once again, and with Emil being the newest addition! We all happily entered the Cinema House and braced ourselves for Panday. The movie was.. ugh.. bad. Haha. But we managed to find entertainment on the movies' lousy script, transition and pacing. In the end, despite the disappointment, we agreed that we all enjoyed the movie! After the film, we then stormed off to Munoz (just like to old good times!) to drop off Jb in front of her home, as we parted ways with the very person who completed the "Tayong Apat Movement" late last year. We then had another roadtrip back to Fraian's condo. Darwin and Emil had a quick midnight snack, as Fraian prepared the beds, while I slack off at the sofa feeling the exhaustion of the long drives I did. When the beds were made, it was time to sleep for us. We set the alarm at 7AM, in time for breakfast. Came morning, we then drove to Sinangag Express (affectionately referred to as "SEX" by patrons) to have breakfast. Lastly, we dropped Fraian back to his condo as we parted ways with our soon-to-be doctor buddy before we drove back to Monumento to end this usual-activity-filled-and-enjoyable Boys' Nightout!
Note: A couple of photos came from the first Formal Nightout dated Dec. 12, 2009.

A week after the first "Formal" nightout, the Boys were back together wearing their prom-like attires to celebrate my sister's 18th birthday. And to make things even more remarkable, the night saw the Boys meeting one of my really good friends, Gian. For what I've heard, they've also bonded together even after my sister's party. Wala lang, it just feels amazing to see friends of different circles converge at one point and become comfortable with each other eventually. It would have been really more amazing if friends from my Kiss Club Circle or my FNS Circle meet friends from The Boys or the Allianz circle. But I figure, it would be very difficult. That's why a simple convergence like this already feels very amazing. Anyway, the debut was successful. I was one of the busiest persons that night, that's why I wasn't able to entertain my friends that much. Nothing much to tell in this post, since this isn't the main blog about the event, but I just would also like to take this opportunity to thank the people who I invited over: Fraian, Darwin, Emil.. then also Gian and Pao for taking their time in attending the event. =D

The first December formal weekend saw Darwin's sister's wedding in which, Emil, Fraian and I were invited. It was the first time the four of us gathered together wearing a rather formal attire, which kind of reflected the four of us in our "yuppy" states. The invitation came about a couple of months ago, so we all made sure we're ready for it when it came.
The three of us, invitees, met up at Fraian's dorm and then headed to Plaza Ibarra at Timog where the reception was held. We weren't able to attend the mass anymore since we all had schedule constraints. But our arrival at the reception venue was most perfect. Lunch was only being served. After having our lunch and watching AVPs of the newly weds, we stepped out of the ball and had our usual kwentuhans outside. About an hour after we went outside, the program ended. As soon as the visitors left the venue, the four of us took the opportunity to take pictures in our formal attire. The wedding reception ended at around 4PM, but for us, it was just the beginning! From Timog Avenue, we drove back to Fraian's dorm at UST since he'll need to attend to something first. Afterwards, we talked about where to go next-- which was decided by everyone to be at Bonifacio Global City.
So from UST, we took the Buendia route to Fort Bonifacio and parked at Market Market. Before doing anything else, Darwin bought a couple of formal wear with Emil while Fraian and I went to a nearby stall to buy surgery wear. After buying what we were supposed to buy, we returned back to the car to drop off stuff there. From the parking lot, we then went to Serendra all the way to Bonifacio High Street. We then went to a couple of sports store, as requested by Emil. Afterwards, we went to Starbucks to grab some drinks and pastries and so that Fraian will be able to use the GCs he won in their Christmas party. After having "desserts", we then went to Timezone to play our favorite Hammer Game, Foosball and Karaoke to settle the unsettled scores the last time we were there!

All in formal attire, we first tried to outdo each other in the Hammer Game. Our rules were very simple: We divided ourselves into two teams (Fraian and Emil, Darwin and I) and tried hitting the device with the hammer the strongest we can. The team who gets the higher average wins. The games were close. Fraian and I usually get the highest points for our respective teams, but in the end, team Fraian and Emil grabbed the win. Revenge is a dish best served cold, this is what team Kirk and Darwin proved to their opponents after beating them fair and square on the game of Foosball -- which once again tied the scores. To finish off the contest, we've decided to battle it out on Karaoke (albeit, having a very questionable scoring system). We've sang OPMs, Operas, Pops.. all just to outbest the other teams. But after singing Go The Distance and This Is The Moment, we seemed to have forgotten about the contest, as we only concerned ourselves on how to sing the songs correctly! In the end, we were not able to track the scores, hence not being able to name a winner. Albeit unofficial, we resumed playing our all-time favorite Foosball and exchanged challenging games. Our games ended a bit late already. And feeling the effects of that long day, we've decided to leave The Fort and go back to Manila.
But it wasn't over yet. Despite feeling exhausted, we still managed to look for a restaurant to eat in. We first went to Mang Inasal near Fraian's condo, but the poor services turned us off and drove us away. We then tried going to Harbour Square but the volume of people in the area triggered us to explore another option. Luckily, we were near Macapagal Blvd, and Emil remembered the BBQ Chicken Restaurant near HK Sun. So without hesitation, we drove from CCP to HK Plaza to tryout BBQ Chicken. Somehow, among the four of us, it was only Emil who had some gas left on his tank.. so he took care of the orders while the three of us slept in the couch. After the foods were served, it was time to pig out. The restaurant was a bit pricy, but it was justified by the quality of the foods served. Despite of us almost half-asleep, we were able to enjoy the dinner. After eating, we then agreed to call it a night. We dropped Emil by his condotel, while the three of us had an overnight at Fraian's condo. In the morning, before going back to Monumento, we dropped Fraian at his dorm near UST. In a few minutes, we were at Monumento and there parted ways to end that one great nightout!

Two weeks after the limit-breaking event, the Boys once again met up with the same mission: To make the most out of that meeting day. And indeed, whenever the four of us go out, it's assured that we'll have something worthwhile lined up and that we'll finish the day exceeding even our own expectations!
Just as before, the meet-up began with unexpected text messages. Last Friday, Fraian texted everyone to prepare for a Saturday Badminton Game, which would serve to prepare Emil for his upcoming competition. So since it was Saturday, the schedule constraint only allowed us to meet in the afternoon. So from home, I drove to Fraian's apartment and picked him up there. From UST, we then went to Emil's condotel near DLSU and finally to Fraian's condo to meet up with Darwin. This time, we didn't go to our usual court at UN Avenue, instead we drove to Intramuros where Emil had reserved us a court to play in. It was the first time I drove inside Intramuros, but thanks to my everyday travel to the office, I seemed to have memorized the area pretty quick. We reached the court in no time, and when we did, we wasted no time and began our game.
As mentioned, the game was to serve as Emil's practice for his competition. Over the course of the week, he's been playing against Fraian in Singles matches, and that the Saturday game was a Doubles practice. So we had a rotation of partners, to help us train our "adjusting to different partners" soft skill. This was the first time I got to play with another partner, aside from Fraian. With Emil, I won a game. With Darwin, I won none (LOL). With Fraian, I won all the games except the last one. The trend obviously goes to show how hard it was for me to adjust to other partners, regardless if they can compliment my strengths and weaknesses. Personally, I believe this aspect in our game sort of mirrored my personality -- and is something which I should really work hard in improving. I'm very proud, though, of how I improved. Regardless of who my partner was, I did see how I committed less errors and how I managed to fare against the way-too-better three. It was just difficult for me to read, interpret and understand my other non-Fraian partners. Anyways, I was proud of my performance. And I know, when I return to playing Badminton with the Tuesday Group, I'll have something that will catch them off guard! LOL. A special shoutout to Fraian for patiently coaching me. He's a good coach, by all standards -- especially coaching a stubborn, non-team-player person like me.
Eating time! What's a Boys' nightout without an activity to fill up our stomachs? Since we just had an extreme sporty activity, and taking a cue from our Kanin Club mistake two weeks ago, my friends suggested (much to my dismay) to eat healthy. At first, they were suggesting that we eat in a Japanese Restaurant, but before we left the court, several ideas were pitched in such as Ongpin and MOA which ultimately scrapped our original Japanese dinner. But as we drove to our initial destination, we stopped by Macapagal Blvd. to check out the restaurants near Dampa. Walking around brought us to KingOne, which serves All-You-Can Shabu-Shabu (for a bit of a hefty price). After a few minutes of debate, we all entered the restaurant and began grabbing the Shabu-Shabu ingredients that we can. The foods were.. well, okay. They weren't very tasty.. but I figure because, they weren't meant to be tasty. But the experience was good. The service was, well way-above our expectations, except for one that the meticulous Fraian has pointed out. But overall, it was good.
We've been joking about how our level (in terms of the foods we eat, the places we go and things like that) has risen over the past few months. Per our definition of "our level": We no longer eat in cheap eateries. We no longer sing in jologs-infested karaoke bars. We no longer hangout just walking around malls. We no longer just go out and do nothing. Basically, we now do what Elites usually do, go where they go and yeah.. eat what they eat. Despite of whatever the accuracy of our Elite Level Theory is, we certainly had a considerable amount of "upgrade" in terms of the things I mentioned above. Why? Because it shows. That's why, most of the time, we go home at night (or even in the morning) happy and satisfied.

The Best Crispy Pata!
If it's delicious Crispy Pata I want, I can only get it in one place. Bombing's Crispy Pata at St. Michael serves, probably, the best tasting Crispy Pata I've ever encountered. I first had a taste of it during Kuya Paolo's despedida in 2006, afterwhich it was also served during my birthday celebration with the Allianz in 2007. Then everytime there's a gathering of the gang, the Crispy Pata became a regular in the meals being prepared. Even gatherings in my grandparents' house in Bulacan, the Crispy Pata suddenly became a staple! How can you not like it? Each pata they serve is deep fried to perfection, every bite guarantees a magnificent combination of crisp and taste, which oozes a rich zest of salt and spice that would surely tickle one's tastebuds and finding himself craving for more! Not to mention the unique sweet-spicy sauce that enhances the already tantalizing flavor! It's just plain addicting. You can get it in different sizes, but all with inexpensive prices. No other Crispy Pata that I know of has surpassed the goodness of Bombing's. I sure do recommend this to anyone who'll have time to drop by Bulacan. =D
A Netbook's Journey to Windows 7
Since a Netbook doesn't have a built-in optical disk reader, I had to find ways to install a new OS into it. I'm just sick of Windows XP and on how fast your system slows down with it. I've been reading a lot about installing Windows 7 on netbooks and on how efficient the OS runs on those small machines, so I decided to give it a try. So from home, I went to a nearby mall (Victory Mall) to buy a 4GB Flash Drive which would host the setup files for my Windows 7 installation. I got that flash disk for about 400 pesos, which kind of surprised me since I got my first 1GB flash disk for 1,500 (but that was four years ago). But the thing that really surprised me is how CDR King has grown into this large one-stop PC-holic's store. It practically sells most of the everyday electronic stuff that you'd need. And they all come inexpensively! Yes, many might question the durability of those stuff, but still, you can't help but respect the store for making available things that were originally thought impossible for a regular consumer to own. To think that they've started, as the name suggests, a store of Rewrittable CDs! Grabe, pag naglabas sila ng CDR-KING Version of PSP, papaalipin na ako sa kanila!
In connection with the previous paragraph, I was able to install Windows 7 Ultimate in an ASUS EeePC 1005HA Netbook. And yes, it runs really well with it. No slowdown, whatsoever. Even with Aero enabled! Resource consumption seems similar with when it was still using the built-in Windows XP Home Edition. And without all the ASUS-pre-installed nonsense stuff, it runs really faster this time. Kudos to Microsoft for coming up with such wonder!
Kuya Ivan's 1st Death AnniversaryTime truly flies fast. We hardly noticed it, but it's been a year already since our friend Jacque's kuya passed away. I know it's very hard for their family, and despite the many months that passed by, grief was still very evident in their home when they invited us over for the 1st Death Anniversary commemoration. Up to this point, we can only hope and wish that rightful justice be served upon the person who took the life of our friend's brother. I know, this country doesn't have the best justice system, but I still believe that one way or another, what went around WILL come around and that the killer will pay for his dues in the court of people and the court of God.
2012 Movie
2012, for me, was a huge letdown. I've waited for it since the time I saw the trailer -- but all my waiting was put to waste when I finally got to see it in theaters. Don't ask me for the movie's summary because I can't give you.. why? Because I just slept almost through the whole thing! The effects were good though.. but really, fancy effects don't do much to get my approval on movies. My "sleeping through the whole movie" feeling reminded me of the very same reaction I gave movies such as: "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" I don't know why I even watched it in the first place), "Transformers 1" (darn, I hated that first movie!), "Batman Begins" (isa pa to!), and many of the non-sense local movies that I've seen throughout the decade. In all fairness to the movie though, there may have been several good points there, but I was probably sleeping. Gian, who was with me when I saw it, didn't seem to be disappointed. Several officemates also said it wasn't bad. Fraian, who is known to be overly-critical about the quality of the movies, said it wasn't bad as well. So maybe, it was just me! I'll try to rewatch it over the weekend, if I have the time, and hopefully the movie will get to redeem itself. Haha.
Happy Birthday Fraian! And finally, to wrap up this Random Thoughts. I'd like to greet my best buddy Fraian a very happy birthday! Over the years, he's been instrumental to whatever positive changes I'd been undergoing. I've always looked up to this guy and truly idolizing him has never put me astray. He's a very good influence, and he's helped me break my limits and become a better person in all aspects! I may not have all the words to describe how thankful I am to have him as my best buddy, but God knows how really grateful I feel. Haha to not be redundant, I'll probably just link to my last year's birthday greetings (hahaha tamad e no).
